TEXTO EDITORES Texto Editora was launched in Lisbon in 1977 and has since then become one of the leading educational publishing companies in Portugal with a solidly-based financial position. The main activity of the Texto Editores Group is the design, the production, the printing, and the placement of schoolbooks, and their associated materials. Despite its main activity, the Group has also been developing other successful lines of both paper and multimedia products (encyclopedia, several dictionaries, atlas, a.s.o.). Texto Editores' activity as a publisher comprehends all the pre-printing stages of the book production process in a fully computerized environment and also all the printing stages, with a production of about 1.800.000 copies/year. Texto Editores deeply invests in the scientific and educational quality of its products, as well as in their graphic design, while keeping up with all the changes that have occurred in the Portuguese educational system in the last few years. Authors, scientific and educational consultants, editing professionals and a modern editing and printing equipment also grant for the quality of the books and other materials, that has turned Texto Editora into the well known and successful company it is today. Recently in 1998 Texto Editores was certified as a Quality Company (according to ISO 9001). The Group Texto Editores keeps important relations with foreign organizations of cooperation with African Portuguese Speaking Countries, and is responsible for several projects regarding schoolbook publishing and their placement in all of those countries. The group is also very active in the Internet, having bought the Portuguese search engine SAPO, having established a partnership with Portugal Telecom to explore it, and having brought schools and the Internet closer.
